- Depicted is the king’s welcoming ceremony - symbolizing royal authority, divine right, and the harmonious relationship between ruler, people, and the sacred. In Sri Lankan culture, especially within ancient kingdoms like Kandy, these ceremonies were grand expressions of loyalty, tradition, and spiritual legitimacy, often blending Buddhist rituals with indigenous customs to honor the monarch as both protector and servant of the Dharma. This is a replica of an 18th-century artwork from the Dambulla cave temple, also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla - a World Heritage Site in Sri Lanka.
